Shopify helps create your online store
Creating an online shop is not rocket science. You don't have to become a programming genius or study design. Shopify makes setting up your website as easy as possible for you.
In this blog we explain useful features that make your work easier when creating an online shop. From design to templates for general terms and conditions to importing your products.
Appearance is everything
Everyone says looks aren't that important, and everyone knows that's not the whole truth. Especially when it comes to attracting and keeping the attention of potential customers, the appearance of your online shop is essential. Choose an attractive and interesting design that suits your company.
Finding the right design requires a certain amount of creativity. To do this, there should be basic know-how about what psychologically motivates people to visit a website for longer than 2 seconds. Shopify relieves you of this prior knowledge by offering ready-made templates that you can easily select. There is a “Theme library” category for this when creating the online shop. Here you can choose a free shop theme or upload one yourself. If there is no suitable design here, you can purchase more in the Theme Shop. In order to find a theme that suits your company, you can search in the Theme Shop for the department of your company or the products offered and suitable results will be suggested.
Once you have decided on a suitable theme, you can adjust it in the "Current Theme" category. This includes page setup, text and images.

Responsive design: looks good regardless of size
Perhaps you have already noticed that some websites and online shops look great in the PC browser, but lose their clarity on mobile devices such as smartphones or can no longer be navigated properly.
The solution to this problem is responsive design. The website or the online shop adapts to the window size. In this way, your online shop can be displayed clearly and attractively on the PC as well as on the smartphone or tablet.
Most set up their online shop via the PC browser. If you want to test how the whole thing looks in the smartphone view, there is a button at the top right that lets you switch between the views. The smartphone view can be adjusted independently from the desktop view to get the best possible view on small screens.
Not everyone is a lawyer...
The design of your website is important for customer acquisition, but there is something that is even more important for you: your legal texts. These include general terms and conditions, data protection declaration, cancellation policy, etc.
Maybe you're the type who always reads the terms and conditions carefully, but maybe you're also the type who just skims them or even accepts them directly. According to the motto: it says the same thing everywhere anyway and you can't get around it anyway. No matter which type you belong to: For your online shop you have to store your legal texts and it is difficult to write them yourself.
Shopify will help you with this as well. You can add all legal texts under "Settings" > "Legal". These can be inserted as free text if you already know how they are written or have a draft. With the "Create template" button, Shopify creates a standard template for this legal text for you.You can also look for suitable templates on the Internet and copy them into the corresponding text fields. You can then adapt these templates to your company.
Hui outside and inside?
Now the layout of your online shop is set, but what do you actually want to sell? We can't help you with your offer, because it's best for you to decide for yourself. You have the idea of your articles, we help to enter them into the online shop.
The easiest way to do this is to read a product listing directly into Shopify. Shopify specifies exactly how this list must be structured so that no incorrect entries occur. If you cannot transfer all the entries required by this list to your products, the associated columns are simply left blank. The resulting CSV file is converted to the individual products after importing into Shopify. Ideally, you already have such a list because of the regular inventories.
Another option is to enter products manually. This is recommended if no digital list is available or cannot be created, or if you only want to sell selected products via the online shop. Here you enter all the product information yourself in Shopify.
You must not forget the photos of your products. These must be added to both variants. There is an input field for this, in which the photo can be added to the product page via click, drag and drop or URL.
We'll talk about how to manage the synchronization between online sales and store sales in another blog.
It's not easy to prevail against the big online shops these days. You have the reach and the money to be among the first entries in search queries. Nevertheless, it is possible to draw attention to yourself on the Internet.
Shopify allows you to connect your online shop directly to your social media. This requires a business profile on these pages. For example, it is possible to connect your online shop to your Facebook business profile. You can place ads on these pages and will be suggested to potentially interested people. To do this, link the desired account to your online shop under "Settings" > "Sales channels" > "Add sales channel".
You can also start campaigns via the online shop itself to increase your reach. Campaign ideas that have already been developed are suggested to you under the "Marketing" tab. Or design your own campaign.
As you can see, we're helping you out as much as possible. And what Shopify doesn't cover itself, we're happy to explain! Just get in touch with us.
